Electric Vehicles, New Alternative Natural Transportation-part 1

The story of electric vehicles was began with a small train through a miniature of an electric motor that built by Thomas Davenport in 1834. Three years later, Robert Davidson who was a Scotsman built an electric locomotive with four miles per hour speed (6 km/hour) it was the first fast electric vehicle in that era. However in another place, this technology was developed by the science to find the best electric vehicle, and between 1832 and 1839, Robert Anderson of Scotland built the first crude electric carriage powered by non-rechargeable primary cells.

In the 20th century, the electric cars and rail transport is normal, even today we find see electric car easily in the market. The United Kingdom was the world’s largest consumer of electric vehicles.

Back to the electric vehicle history, in 1889, Thomas Edison built a great innovation in the vehicle industry, he found Nickel-Alkaline Batteries. It became the first sign of new generation of electric vehicle’s energy resource. After the issued of this innovation, people started to find out more powerful and efficient energy.

In 1900s, electric vehicles were among the first cars, and before the preeminence of light, powerful internal combustion engine, the electric cars held many vehicle land speed and distance. At that moment, there were several manufactures developed electric vehicles, they were Baker Electric, Columbia Electric, Detroit Electric, and others, and a point in the history of the gasoline vehicles. Thirty years later, National City Lines, as the partner of General Motors, Firestone and Standard Oil of California purchased many electric tram networks across the country to dismantle and replace them with General Motor Buses. General Motors could be the motivator of transportation growth in the history, in January 1990, General Motors has started to produce electric vehicle and sold it to the market. Totally, from 1996 to 1998, General Motors has produced 1117 EV1s, and 800 of them were produced by the three years lease.

In 2003, after the expiry of the lease EV1, General Motor has been crushed, the crushing has various factors;
- The successful of federal court challenge in California zero-emission vehicle mandate
- Regulation of the federal government, General Motors produce and maintain spare parts for the few thousand EV1s and
- The success of the oil-and auto industry media campaign for public acceptance of electric vehicles.

Nowadays, all major rich car manufactures such as Daimler AG, Toyota Motor Corporation, General Motors Corp, Renault SA, Peugeot-Citroen, VW and Mitsubishi Corp, are involving in a long journey discussion to develop a new generation of electric vehicle.


Electric Vehicles Energy Resource
There are three kinds of electric vehicle energy resource, they are Batteries, as the main energy resource for electric vehicle, electric double layer capacitors and flywheel energy storage that are all forms of rechargeable onboard electrical storage. Energy efficiency can be improved by avoiding an intermediate mechanical step level, and hybrid can be one of the best solutions that are being discussed. By using hybrids system, the machine is avoiding unnecessary energy conversion, moreover, electro-chemical batteries are simply transforming to reverse so that the energy stored in chemical form. Alternatively, we can use another form of the chemical transformation of electric fuel cells for the future use. However, it seems that we must be patient to use this system perfectly.

Even though electric vehicle are only a few emissions, but all based on energy generated by electricity emit pollution and waste is generated, unless it is a renewable energy source plants. Since electric vehicle use electricity as the energy source, it can be more efficient and safe for environment especially world is concerning to reduce global warming affects.

People now are starting to consider vehicle emission to prevent negative effect of climate change. As we know, gasoline cars and diesel engine fuel vehicles are the main source of C02 on the air. That’s why in Asia such as Japan and Singapore fix some rules for older vehicles that regular updating of all vehicles on the road.

Electric vehicle is more efficient than fossil fuel vehicles. It also safe for environment, moreover in areas with deregulated electric power market, an electric vehicle owner may choose whether they want to implement the electric car or purely electric energy from renewable sources.
